THE SANCTIFIED ORDER

Faith & Doctrine

The Light is not merely worshipped. It rules. The Sanctified Order of the Flame is the spiritual and judicial backbone of the Imperium — equal in power to the throne itself.

The Sanctified Order — Hierarchy

From the Luminary Throne to the common Torchbearer
1. The Luminary ThroneVoice of the Light, Incarnate RadianceEqual to Emperor/Empress

Supreme leader of the Church, chosen by the Light itself. Veiled in cloth-of-gold, rarely seen, deeply feared. Proclamations can command nations to burn or cities to rise. Co-signs imperial decrees on succession, law, and war. Maintains veto over coronations and can revoke noble legitimacy.

2. Seraphic JudgesEyes of the Flame, Hands of JudgmentKings/Queens • High Councilors

Blazing paladins and prophets who interpret the Luminary’s will. Lead purges, sanctify wars, sit in judgment over heresy. Final word on heresy, prophecy, and sainthood. Often placed as spiritual governors beside noble kings; may censure entire houses.

3. Archons of the Dawning FlameShepherds of Nations, Pillars of PurityDukes/Duchesses

Regional rulers of faith, law, war, and doctrine. Wear armor etched with scripture. Oversee taxation of church lands and assign Flameward Prelates. Power bases that rival or exceed secular nobility.

4. Flameward PrelatesKeepers of the BeaconCounts/Viscounts

Leaders of great temples, strongholds, or holy cities. Oversee ceremony and military defense. Burn incense constantly to “choke the dark.” Preside over shared tribunals and can excommunicate minor nobles.

4.5 The Purging FlameFanatical InquisitorsUnbound agents — feared like nobility

Special order answering only to the Archon or higher. Arrive without warning, judge cities, burn corruption even in priests. Can override noble authority in heresy matters. Rumors of entire castles purged by a single Purger are common.

5. LightbringersBlades of IlluminationKnightly Orders

Elite priest-knights and exorcists. Tattoo radiant sigils, carry sunforged weapons that burn with Light. Seek heresy, witchcraft, shadowspawn. Lead crusades and purges alongside the Legions. Nobles sponsor Orders for prestige.

6. TorchbearersVoices of RadianceBelow knights; respected

Standard ordained clergy. Lead village congregations, tend flame-altars, deliver sermons, keep records. Trusted and feared for moral surveillance on noble courts and common folk alike.

7. Glory AcolytesThe TemperedApprentices / Squires

Trainees chanting scripture, carrying fire in rituals. Learn healing, scripture, and flame. The best rise to Lightbringer or Torchbearer; others serve eternally.

The Umbral Path — Nythera’s Faith

OUTLAWED • HERESY

Where Aureon demands purity and judgment, Nythera, the Endless Night offers silence, acceptance, and the dissolution of self. The Church teaches that all shadow is corruption. The Umbral faithful reply that the Light merely burns what the Night will inevitably claim.

Practiced in secret by oracles, mourners, noble bastards, and those who reject the searing demands of the Flame. A single act of worship is treason. Lightbringer purges are swift and final.

Nezhera, the Whispering Veil

Mother of Secrets • The Dreaming Eye

Dreams, hidden knowledge, prophecy. Oracles and Veilwatchers who hoard unbearable truths. Visions that gnaw at sanity.

Vorn, the Stillborn King

Crown of Dust • Sovereign of Ruin

Entropy, decay, futility. Prophets of collapse who preach that every empire ends in ash. Clergy wear broken bone crowns.

Maulvein, the Hollow Thorn

The Silent Wound • Ecstasy of Agony

Pain, pleasure, sacrifice, betrayal. The boundary between suffering and rapture is illusion. Spies, martyrs, and seekers of forbidden indulgence.

The Night does not fight the Flame. It simply waits for every spark to fade.
