Armor & Shields

Armor provides Defense and Mitigation at the cost of mobility, spellcasting, and certain skills. Shields offer a flat +2 Defense but heavy Arcana penalties (improving with rarity).

How Armor Works

Defense — Reduces incoming damage before mitigation is applied.
Mitigation — Flat damage reduction after Defense.
Light armor favors casters and agile characters. Heavy armor offers superior protection but severely hampers spellcasting and stealth.
Penalties to Arcana, Rituals, Acrobatics, and Stealth are common trade-offs for better protection.
